They probably should, but it's not close to feasible for anyone to expect that insurance companies will send someone to visit every property they insure. That would be like having every car insurance send someone to inspect your car before they insure you. I guess, as the consumer, if I buy a house today and I'm told that I can't insure it for six months because that's how long it will take to get someone from the company to come out and inspect my house, that I wouldn't be all that appreciative or happy about things.

"It’s hard to be mad at State Farm in this instance." - Its tough to agree with State Farm. They are complaining about crooked contractors who didn't build the houses as expected. Then isn't it the job of State Farm to check it even before they had given the homeowners insurances?

You're right Tim, even the weather isn't cooperating these days in Florida. And for the first time in years, they actually lost population.

Wow, no rest for the weary in Florida, huh? I'm certainly not an expert on home insurance, but from what I'm taking from this, they can just drop policies for any reason whenever they wish. I know many homeowners in Florida and other southern states were being dropped by insurers when they reported defects from imported drywall.

There's really not much incentive to live in Florida these days is there?

Good stuff, thanks Mitch.
