On a similar note, when you get emails be sure to check the following which will help you catch 80% of the scam mails.
1. See if the mail addresses you by your name or a general greeting(eg: Hi, Hello, Respected Sir etc). If its the latter you have to be careful since it might be a mass scam mail.
2. The grammar mistakes in the mail should alert you since most of these scam mails bound to have some.
3. Check the email address. For instance if your bank website is MyBank.com then the email address can be something like support@MyBankOnline.com etc.
4. Always use Google to see if you can find any information about the email address, phone number, name etc which they refer to.
