One of the problems I've seen lately, though, is that it's harder to tell what a good quality stock is. I mean, who'd have ever thought Yahoo would fall as far as it has? And the stocks of major banks have taken a major hit also; many in the U.S. are looking at possible decertification from the NYSE; that's certainly scary. I have been playing the markets, buying low and selling high, a little and when it works you can make a fair bit of cash, the only problem is, no matter what anyone will tell you, that you never know what a particular stock will do. The one thing that I have learned is to buy good quality stocks that pay a fully franked dividend, that way even if the stock goes down you’re still getting a return.
